OLLSMPC, represented by its Board of Directors, Dir. Lorna V. Fulong, Dir. Eralyn S. Reyes, and Dir. Harry Ben Hur B. Hermosura, took a proactive step in enhancing their governance skills. They participated in a seminar on Parliamentary Procedures organized by the Santiago City Federation of Credit Cooperatives (SAFECCO). This seminar was not just an event they attended, but a platform they actively engaged in to equip themselves with a comprehensive understanding of parliamentary rules for more effective and orderly meetings. The seminar took place on August 31, 2024, at the SACDECO Training Center, Rizal, Santiago City.

The seminar kicked off with an engaging introduction to the fundamentals of parliamentary procedure, underlining its crucial role in maintaining decorum and ensuring democratic decision-making within deliberative assemblies. Participants were actively involved in interactive sessions that covered key topics, including understanding how to introduce, debate, and vote on proposals; learning the protocols for engaging in respectful and productive discourse; understanding the procedures for modifying motions and the implications of such changes; and exploring various voting techniques and their appropriate applications.

The seminar was not just about theoretical learning, but also about practical application. The sessions were designed to provide the directors and officers of cooperatives with the practical knowledge they need to apply parliamentary principles effectively in their respective roles. To reinforce the theoretical aspects, the seminar included workshops where attendees participated in simulated meetings. These exercises allowed them to practice motion handling, role assignments, and conflict resolution, applying parliamentary procedures to manage disagreements and ensure consensus.

These practical applications instilled a sense of confidence and proficiency in utilizing parliamentary procedures during actual cooperative meetings. The seminar significantly enhanced the participants' capabilities in conducting structured and efficient meetings. By adopting standardized procedures, OLLSMPC anticipates improved decision-making processes and strengthened organizational governance. By embracing these practices, OLLSMPC aims to foster a culture of transparency, inclusivity, and effective governance, thereby enhancing its service to members and the broader community.
